Getting to Know Ms. Luna

Hi There:)

Welcome to my teacher biography.

I’m glad to meet you:)

Let me share with you who I am…

  • I have been working in LAUSD for 22 years…
  • During this time I have:
    • Taught: Science (Biology, Physiology, Earth Science, Health, ICS), Math (Algebra to Trig), English (7th-12th grade), Social studies, Art, PE, Leadership
    • Had different hats in education: teacher, dean, administrator, testing coordinator, and chair of many school committees
    • Been a club advisor for various clubs including the outdoor club and the Doctor Who Club
    • Travelled to various places while on vacation; which is what I do to learn more about our amazing world. I have visited Canada, Mexico, El Salvador, and travelled through California, Oregon, and Washington state. My favorite travel was to Japan. You can see the attached pictures for some beautiful scenery of my visits.
    • I enjoy going to concerts, reading science fiction, going for long drives to local areas.  One of the places in California I want to visit is Yosemite..
  • My teaching philosophy: I guide my student's curiosity while providing facts, skills, and supporting questions; together we build a collaborative understanding of the world. Students are extremely knowledgeable and bring many skills to our learning environment. It's always a pleasure seeing them grow throughout the year.
  • Famous Quote: “If the structure does not permit dialogue the structure must be changed”
    ― Paulo Freire
